Class 9(1) An igniter for an electric time fuze comprises a chamber containing a delay composition communicating with a second chamber containing . an initiating charge, the connecting passage between the chambers being con- .tinued into the initiating charge and filled with the delay composition. In Fig. 1 a tube 1 is divided into two chambers 2, 3 communicating through a restricted bore 4, the wall of the bore 4 being shaped to project into the initiating charge chamber 3. In an alternative construction, two separate chambers are provided, the delay,chamber having a tapered end wall axially bored to receive part of the delay composition. The tapered wall is pressed into the initiating composition. A groove may be formed in the wall of the delay chamber, into which groove the detonator casing receiving the igniter may be crimped or pressed.
