Abstract
745,192. Pyrotechnic devices. ROSE P. Oct. 25. 1954 [Dec. 8, 1953], No. 34169/53. Class 9(2) Pyrotechnic device comprises a tube 10 closed at the base by a conical plug 12 and adapted to contain an explosive charge, above which is inserted a fuze plug 13 filled with gunpowder and sealed with a priming of meal-like or dough - like gunpowder. The tube 10 is made by rolling up a rectangular sheet of paper and the plug 12 is secured by adhesive. To make the fuze plug, a rectangular sheet of paper with a corner cut away is rolled to form a tube with a slightly tapered outer surface and having a touch paper 16 at the closed end, the paper 16 being impregnated with saltpetre. After filling, adhesive is applied to the outer surface of the plug, which is then inserted in the tube 10. A quick match may be placed between the fuze plug and the main charge in the tube 10. The inner surface of the tube 10 may be cylindrical or conical, when conical the fuze plug may be cylindrical. A washer may be glued to the plug 13 to abut against the end of the tube 10.
