Abstract
1,085,131. Blasting assemblies. NITROGLYCERIN AB. Feb. 12, 1965 [Feb. 14, 1964], No. 6095/65. Heading F3A. A blasting assembly comprises a low energy detonating fuze cord with a booster cap attached to one end and a blasting cap at the other end, a cylindrical spacer 13 is in open communication between the contents of the blasting cap and the adjacent end of the cord and has an axial bore of cross-section less than 20 square mm. The preferred cross-section is between 12 and, 0À75 sq. mm. When a delay 8 is incorporated in the blasting cap, the delay charge may be housed in the spacer 13 or in a separate cylindrical body (15), Fig. 4 (not shown). The cord has a core 1 of PETN, whose diameter is 0À4 mm., enclosed in a lead sheath covered by a layer of paper and a further layer of plastics material. The delay charge may be a mixture of 36% lead peroxide, 29% lead chromate and 35% silicon metal.
