Abstract
694,144. Blasting charges. SOC. DE PROSPECTION ELECTRIQUE (PROCEDES SCHLUMBERGER). May 9,1951 [May 11, 1950], No. 10897/51. Class 9(i) Shaped charge for use in apparatus for piercing well linings has a frustro-conical casing 2 within an outer casing or sheath 3. The sheath 3 has a cylindrical rear extension slotted to receive a fuze 6 and containing a primer charge 5. The rear of the sheath fits within a recess 7 in the perforator body 1, while the front end engages an opening 8 diametrically opposite the recess. The opening 8 is closed by a threaded plug 9 and a conical liner 10 fits within the charge. The casing 2 is fitted over the liner 10 to form a rigid unit which will not be deformed during loading or by the firing of adjacent charges. A peripheral bead 11 on the inner surface of the sheath 3 may be provided to locate the unit 2-10. The parts 2-10 may be cast as a unit, Fig. 4. Specification 677,824 is referred to.
