Abstract

1,218,806. Blasting. INSTITUT GORNOGO DELA IMENI A.A. SKOCHINSKOGO. 26 Jan., 1968, No. 4164/68. Heading E1F. [Also in Division F3] A flexible tube 3 is used to stem a blast hole or well, the tube being closed at one end and having an opening in its other end through which liquid can be fed into the tube. The opening is provided by a double-walled, non- centrally disposed pipe 2 which serves as a non-return valve. The closed end of the tube 3 is turned into the tube before the latter is inserted in the hole or well so that when fed with liquid the said end is forced out of the tube and against an explosive charge 7. The mouth of the hole or well may be cemented with clay 10. The tube may be used for simultaneous charging and stemming of the hole or well, the charge being disposed within the inturned closed end of the tube before the latter is inserted in the hole or well. A resilient clamping ring may be used to ensure that the charge remains within the inturned closed end of the tube when the latter has been fed with liquid whereby the charge is surrounded with the liquid, Figs. 6 and 7 (not shown). A tube having an inturned end may be made by disposing a first tube portion inside a second tube portion, the first tube portion having a closed inner end and having its other end welded to the adjacent end of the second tube portion, Figs. 8, 9 and 10 (not shown).
