Abstract
694,198. Powder distributers. SPREADERS, Ltd., M. J. Nov. 8 1951 [Nov. 15, 1950], No. 27964/50. Class 6(i) A machine for distributing powdered material comprises a hopper 1, the bottom -wall 7 of which is situated below the upper run of an endless conveyer consisting cf spaced slats 3 connected to endless chains 4. The material is fed to two adjustable deflector plates 10, 11 and falls into two contra-rotating impellers A, B. Inverted U-section shrouds D, E enclose the impellers and project laterally and are provided with canvas curtains 80. The deflector plate 11 is provided with guide surfaces to deflect the material in two streams to each impeller. The hopper is provided with mask plates 8, 9 fitted with flexible wiper strips which protect the chains 4. The amount of material delivered from the hopper is controlled by means of an adjustable gate 98. The impellers each comprise a disc 40 provided with shallow vanes 41 superimposed on a further disc 42 provided with vanes 43, the disc 42 being used for distributing coarse material The shrouds are arranged to be folded to allow the machine tc pass through gateways and are locked in the working position and are supported by wire stays 105. As shown the machine is arranged to distribute fine material and by removing the discs 40 on the impellers, the shrouds D, E and the mask plates 8, 9 and deflectors 10, 11, the machine may be used for distributing coarse material such as lime.
