Abstract
621.947. Agricultural machines. DEVENISH. J. E. B. July 25, 1947, No. 20157. Addition to 621,895. [Class 6(i)] The machine of the parent Specification is provided with a modified form of spreader disc 10 in which annular walls 12 operate to break up lumpy material preparatory to distribution. The walls 12 having an overall diameter less than the internal diameter of the hopper outlet 9 are mounted concentrically on supports 11 on the spreader disc 10 with their lower edges sufficiently clear of the surface of the disc to allow passage thereunder of the material to be spread and having their upper edges adapted to cut material coming out of the hopper 9. Preferably the gap between the lower edges of the walls and the disc is equal to the spacing between consecutive walls, and the upper edges of the walls are at or above the level of the bottom edge of the hopper. Cover plates 13 may be used as in Specification 621,895 to vary the effectual aperture of the hopper outlet. A plurality of spreader discs 10 having walls 12 of different heights and spacings may be provided for each machine or alternatively different sets of walls may be provided for each disc. The drive to the disc is described in Specification 621,946.
