Abstract

693,425. Moulding and core-making machines. BRITISH RONCERAY, Ltd. (Redford Iron & Equipment Co.). June 13, 1951 [March 15, 1950], No. 6487/50. Class 83 (i). A sand-container for insertion between a blowing head and a core-box or moulding- box has a diminishing cross-section from the head to the box in one plane and an increasing cross-section in a plane normal to it. The container comprises a hollow body portion 1 of steel or cast iron with a circular aperture 2 at one end to engage the orifice of the blower. From this aperture the walls diverge in one plane and converge in a plane at right angles so as to merge at the other end into a rectangular trunk portion 3 conforming to the shape of the core-box or mould-box with which it is to be used. The trunk 3 ends in a flange 5 seating on an exchangeable flat plate with blow-holes corresponding with those in the top of the core or moulding-box. The bottom plate 10 may have a series of concavities 11 which lead the sand into the blow holes 13. The bottom plate may also serve as the top of the core-box or moulding-box.
