Abstract

Core-boxes; cores; patterns.-A mould for a cast metal core-box comprises a sand mould 8, Fig. 1, rammed on a pattern 3, Fig. 3, larger than the cores required, and a casting 12 moulded from a pattern similar to these cores. Both patterns may be halves and have identical prints 5 so that the recess 14 thus formed in a lower flask 11 by the pattern 3 serves to locate the casting 12. The pattern 3 may have lugs 4 so that the half core-boxes can be clamped together, or it may also serve for making the moulds with which the required cores are used.
