Moulds; cores; moulding processes.-In casting an aluminium kettle or like hollow-ware article, a brass chill ring 3 is incorporated with the sand core or the mould at the interior or exterior of the junction of the. spout and the body, so that the thick metal at this part is cooled simultaneously with the thin walls of the kettle. Patterns; core-boxes.-When forming the core, the ring 3 may be supported by the plug 4 held in position by a removable pin 5 in the pattern 1 which also forms the core-box.
