[Class 83 (i)] Instead of placing denseners in the thicker parts of the mould cavity to ensure progressive solidification of a crank-shaft 16 from the bottom up, the mould is placed on a hanger base 12 having a chill 13 so arranged that it contacts the molten metal. As shown, there are a number of superposed mould sections 14 in which are formed the cavities for four crank-shafts 16 fed from a central riser 15. Foundry plant.-The hangers are carried on a conveyer for continuous production.
