A number of metal articles are cast simultaneously in sand moulds arranged side-by-side with the parting surfaces vertical. Sixteen half-moulds 1 are clamped together by tie-rods 8 and end-plates 7 and are fed from a single centrally-situated pouring gate 6 leading to a bottom runner 5 communicating with the moulds through risers 3.
