Abstract

175,014. Lucier, T. D. Nov. 2, 1920. Dies.-Die-blocks are made by casting. A cope C and drag D are made in sand &c. from a pattern A of the article to be stamped between the dies, and on these with the pattern in place are cast blocks E, F of a metal having a low melting-point. On these blocks are made moulds G, H of a material having a high heat-resistance, such as graphite mixed with a binder. On these, moulds are cast the die-blocks I, J of steel &c. In a modification the castings E, F are made from the pattern without the sand moulds.
