253,453. Marks, E. C. R., (New Process Multicastings Co.). Jan. 22, 1926. Moulding - machines; moulding processes; flasks.- A number of sand moulds are made in a single flask by a matched pattern plate in a jolt ramming-machine. An assembled tapered flask with interposed pattern plate 10 is inverted, and the drag 8 is packed and closed by a board 11. The flask is then inverted on trunnions 6 and the cope 7 is packed and raised by pistons 4 from the drag. A frame 12, secured to a rod 13 moving with the piston 4, and normally below the flask, is raised from the drag and swung out of the way, and the cope is lowered on to the drag. The flask is then jarred and the cope and drag removed from the completed mould, which may then be enclosed in a temporary casing. In order to prevent the sand in the drag settling away from the pattern when the cope is jolted, the sand in the drag is packed tighter than. usual.
