Class 47(ii) In a fire-extinguisher in which a dry powder is forced from a container 10 through a hose 31 by gas under pressure from a second container 14, the gas is introduced to the container 10 through a tube 40 extending nearly to the bottom of the container and the powder is fed to the hose 31 by a siphon tube 39 extending to the bottom of the container and having an end 52 bent away from the tube 40. The tube 40 has at its lower end openings 42, 44 controlled by a spring-pressed ball 47, and near its upper end openings 50 covered by a yieldable sleeve 51.
