Abstract

690,367. Casting composite articles. NEUE ARGUS GES. Sept. 26, 1951 [Sept. 29, 1950], No. 22519/51. Class 83 (i). [Also in Group XXIX] The casting 2 of a rotary spherical plug-cock is cast around the plug 1, both parts being made, e.g. of brass. To enable the plug to lie loosely within the casing it is covered with a layer of soot which may be removed after casting. Alternatively, the casing may be cast closely around the plug which is subsequently lapped in after it has been loosened by heating the casing. The plug has a tongue and slot connection 4, 9 with an operating-spindle 5 which has screwed engagement with the casing at 7-and carries a packing ring 8. Alternatively, the spindle may be integral with the plug. The plug may have a number of fluid passages.
