Abstract
813,156. Supply fittings for sinks &c. WOODHOUSE & CO. Ltd. March 25, 1958 [April 17, 1957], No. 12490/57. Class 26. A mixer fitting 11 for sinks and the like has its delivery portion 10 formed as a casting with an integral partition 12 forming two passages 13, 14 for water separated by the partition 12 up to or beyond the mouth 15 of the delivery portion 10, fitting at one end round the stem 17 of a T-body 18 connected to the two hot and cold water supplies 19, 20 for the taps 33, 34, a partition 21 cast in the stem 17 keeping the supply connections 22, 23 separate and directing them to intermediate and end openings 24, 25 communicating with the two passages 13, 14 respectively. The delivery portion 10 fits over a sealing ring 26 in a groove in the stem 17, having a reduced inner bore 27 to fit round the portion 28 of the stem, leading to the end openings 25 and having a sealing ring 29 in a groove therein. The delivery portion 10 is retained on the stem 17 by a grub screw 31 protruding behind a shoulder 30 on the portion 28 to enable the delivery portion to swivel on it. The stem 17 may be heightened so that the delivery portion 10 clears taps of different heights and/or types by lengthening the portion 21. In a modification, Fig. 9, instead of being completely above the surround the mixer fitting 11B is only partially to the T-body 18A lying below it, the taps 37, projecting through holes in it and the stem 17B, having an outer surface contiguous with that of the end 16A of the delivery portion 10B reduced to a diameter 38 to fit inside the end 16A. The fitting 11B is secured to the surround 36A by a nut 39 screwing on to a portion 40 of the stem 17B. The partition 12A protrudes just beyond the mouth 15A.
