Abstract

690,079. Photographic exposure meters. ZEISS IKON AKT.-GES. June 14, 1951 [June 17, 1950], No. 14126/51. Class 98 (i). [Also in Group XL (b)] In a photo-electric exposure meter the movement is made rotatable as a whole its position being adjusted by different exposure factors so that adjustment of a final variable brings the pointer to read against a datum mark. As shown, a film speed is set by rotation of cam 18 which through a bell-crank lever 15 and pin 14 adjust the planet wheel carrier 11 of a differential consisting of sun wheels 7, 10 and planet wheels 8, 9. Shutter speed is set by a further cam 1 which adjusts the driving pinion 6 of the differential. The resultant movement of sun wheel 10 rotates a cam 13 rigid with it to rock a toothed lever 21 and adjust the angular position of the meter movement 24, the cam being so shaped as to compensate for non-linearity of the meter response. Additional exposure affecting factors may be taken into account by adjustment of the datum mark or by adjustment of the meter current. The exposure meter may be built into a camera.
