Class 64 (iii) [Also in Group XXVII] A heat-exchanger for use particularly as a cooler for a hot-gas reciprocating apparatus and formed with channels for two heat exchanging media, one a liquid and the other a gas, is characterized in that the channels for the liquid comprise a plurality of tubes 2 which by casting are surrounded by a hollow cylinder 3 of metal in which slit-shaped channels 4 for the gas are formed, the channels 4 extending radially of the cylinder and opening at a cylindrical surface thereof each channel for one medium being located between two channels for the other medium. In the form shown the tubes 2 are connected in parallel to a header arrangement 6 having inlet and outlet ports for the liquid. The tubes are preferably made of copper and are embedded in an alloy of aluminium cast around them and provided with the slit-shaped channels 4 for the gas.
