Abstract

Coumarine derivatives of the general formula <FORM:0688791/IV (b)/1> wherein R represents an alkyl radical, are prepared by heating an aliphatic acid anhydride and bis-4-oxycoumarinyl-3-acetic acid or the lactone of bis-4-oxycoumarinyl-3-acetic acid. The preferred aliphatic acid anhydrides are those of the aliphatic acids having less than 5 carbon atoms, e.g. acetic or propionic acid. In the examples compounds of the above general formula are prepared wherein R represents the methyl and ethyl radicals. Specification 675,784 is referred to.
