Abstract

685,964. Conduits. DE HAVILLAND AIRCRAFT CO., Ltd., and JACKSON, C. C. Oct. 30, 1951 [Nov. 7, 1950], No. 27213/50. Class 36. A cable conduit comprises a base 10 of channel-shaped cross-section having flexible side walls 13 and a flexible cover 15 which makes interlocking engagement with the walls 13 and which may be progressively removed from or replaced on the conduit by deformation of the walls. The walls may have inwardlydirected lips 14, the cover 15 normally being held against the underside of the lips by the cables in the conduit. When the cables do not fill the conduit completely, elastic packing- pieces 31 (Fig. 6) may be inserted at intervals along the conduit to urge the cover 15 outwards. The pieces 31 may be of T-shaped crosssection, the cross-member 32 being enclosed in thin aluminium 33 for stiffening. The conduit is held in place by spring clips 19, each of which is secured in position by a bolt or the like whose head is sunk in a packing of insulating material. Ventilation holes 16 may be provided both in the base and the cover. The conduit may be made of asbestos fibre or linen or cotton fabric reinforced with a thermosetting resin, or of a springy metal with or without an insulating covering.
