Abstract

1432566 Ducting for supporting pipes OXFORD DOUBLE GLAZING Ltd 29 June 1973 [15 April 1972] 17556/72 Heading F2P [Also in Division H2] A ducting assembly for retaining and concealing at least one run of pipe or cable comprises a base member 12, adapted for securing to a substrate, and a cover member 14 to be fitted to the base member to define therewith a run of ducting, and upstanding ribs formed integrally with a bottom portion of the base member and defining grooving 24 to hold clips 26 for securing the pipes or cables, snap fastening means being provided by the base member and the cover member for releasably securing them together. As shown the base and cover members are both of L-shaped section the base being provided with a beading 18 and the cover with a groove 19 for snap fastening engagement with the beading 18. The base and cover members can be formed as an extrusion of, e.g. P.V.C. or nylon, aluminium or synthetic rubber. When fitted together the base and cover members may have a gap therebetween to provide ventilation for the ducting. In a further embodiment the cover may be provided with an extension which can form a further duct with a substrate to which the ducting is fixed. In another embodiment the base member is in the form of an inverted T-shape section and the cover is of channel section, the snap fastening connection being disposed at the end of the leg of the T, whereby to define ducting on both sides of the leg of the T. In another embodiment (Fig. 3, not shown) the base member and the cover member are both of rectangular channel section, such that when fitted together they form a rectangular section ducting, both side walls of the base member and the cover member having components for snap fastening them together. The base member in each embodiment can be provided with holes for screws for securing it to a wall or ceiling or it can be provided with a self adhesive backing.
