Abstract

685,302. Endless conveyers. KING, D. M. Oct. 10, 1950. [Oct. 17, 1949] No. 26603/49. Classes 78 (i) and 104 (ii). A conveyer of the kind wherein a plurality of load-carrying slat members are freely supported on one or more endless driving chains, is characterised in that each of the slat members is provided at one edge with a rolled or beaded portion and at the opposite edge with a grooved or recessed portion so that on appropriate juxtapositioning of any two slat members, the rolled or beaded portion at the one edge of one may be engaged in the grooved or recessed portion at the abutting edge of the second, so as to connect hingedly the two slat members. As shown, slat members 14 are supported by rollers 15 on endless chains 10, 11 housed in channels 12. The slats may be connected together as shown in Fig. 3, one longitudinal edge of each slat being formed with a bead 16 adapted to engage in a turned-up portion 17 formed on the abutting edge of the adjacent slat. The slats may be returned along the underside of the conveyer, being supported by guides so that the return flights of the chain impart the necessary motion thereto.
