Abstract
685,179. Gas burners. PONSTINGL, F. Jan. 16, 1951 [Feb. 10, 1950], No. 1236/51. Classes 75(i) and 75(iii) In a gas burner, particularly for domestic use, the head of the mixing tube 1, Fig. 5, has a cover 7 beneath which are provided radial gas passages leading to burner openings 10 and connected to a common passage open along one side to the atmosphere from which the gas passes downwardly in the event of the openings 10 being obstructed, as by spilled food, through openings between radial webs (not shown) supporting a surrounding ring 2, to burn at the outlets of said openings. As soon as the obstruction is freed the flames return to the normal position. The gas passages are directed radially between two sets of ribs 8, 9, Fig. 4, on the lower surface of the cover 7, which ribs engage the slightly conically flared upper edges of the tube 1 and the ring 2, the ribs 9 having downwardly projecting extensions 14 for locating the cover 7 in position. The burner head and the surrounding ring may be formed as an integral unit.
