Abstract

A dry fungicidal powder readily dispersible in cold water comprises a water insoluble fungicidal copper compound either mixed with gelatin or size, or coated with gelatin or size, both kinds of particles in the first case and the coated particles in the second case being of such fineness that at least 90 per cent thereof passes a 100 B.S. mesh screen. The gelatin or size is preferably of a fineness of at least 150 B.S. mesh. Suitable copper compounds are cuprous oxide and copper oxychloride and the preparations may contain wetting agents such as sodium lauryl sulphate and suspending agents such as sulphite lye, or sodium polyphosphates. The fungicidal powder is preferably prepared by film drying a cold aqueous solution of gelatin containing 100 B.S. mesh copper compound in suspension, and wetting or dispersing agents.
