Abstract

539,353. Coating compositions. TARMAC, Ltd., and PORTER, H. Dec. 30, 1938, No. 37805. [Class 95] A preparation for coating outdoor surfaces for camouflage or other purposes, includes, as the sole ingredients, an aqueous solution of a soluble silicate and a powder including an inert colour and a filler having a chemical action with the silicate to form a lattice structure of crystals, the amount of soluble silicate used being such that the final coating is completely insoluble in water. The liquid and the powder are preferably mixed immediately prior to application. Examples are given of such coating preparations consisting of water, sodium silicate, oxychromium green or yellow ochre, and powdered chalk or limestone dust.
