Abstract

A dry composition suitable, when mixed with water, for spraying, comprises a finely-divided hemihydrate or lightly-burnt hemihydrate calcium sulphate (i.e., one which shows a loss in weight of at least 5 per cent. when ignited over a bunsen burner), intimately mixed with 0.5-10 per cent. of its weight of animal and/or fish glue, preferably a cold-water soluble glue. An inert auxiliary ingredient, such as a white, coloured, or metallic pigment, an extender, e.g., barytes, whiting, or an argillaceous or siliceous material, a bactericide, a fungicide, a wetting or a defoaming agent, or a mixture thereof may also be included. The powdered calcium sulphate and glue, with or without auxiliary ingredients, may first be intimately mixed and the water added subsequently, or the glue and auxiliary ingredients may be mixed and supplied for mixing with the requisite amount of plaster, or the glue may be added to a mixture of plaster and other ingredients in the form of a solution in sufficient water to produce a sprayable mix.
