Abstract

684,828. Vices. SWINDENS PATENTS, Ltd., and ROBERTSON, J. W. Sept. 12, 1951, No. 21481/51. Class 61 (ii). In a vice having jaws which are rotatable about two axes at right angles and in which the jaw 1 is carried by a hollow shaft 5 mounted in a trunnion block 4 provided with a clamping device, the block 4 is formed integral with or is attached to a cylindrical drum 9 rotatable on a cylindrical projection on the base mounting 11 and provided with a clamping device rotatable with the drum. The block 4 is split parallel to its axis and provided adjacent the split with lugs 6 and 7 through which the clamping bolt 8 is passed. The cylindrical skirt 10 is grooved to accommodate the ends of locating pegs 12 which are attached to the drum. The drum is split circumferentially and across, lugs 13 and 14 being provided adjacent the transverse split to accommodate a clamping bolt 15. Specification 320,692, [Class 61 (ii)], is referred to.
