Abstract

683,443. Seats furniture combinations; fixing furniture. WALTER, Ltd., M., and CARTE, C. Sept. 13, 1951 [Sept. 21, 1950], No. 23226/50. Classes 52(ii) and 52(iii) A seat and back rest are pivoted to, by separate pivots, and are foldable into, a pan or shallow box. As shown the pan l provided with angle irons 3 has pivoted thereto at 6 a seat 'rame 5 carrying a spring squab 8 and a back rest frame 11 with a back squab 13 carried by a panel 12 secured to the frame 11 which is pivoted to the pan at 10. In operable position the rear )f the seat rests on a transverse bar 2 and the back rest is provided stops 4 abutting against the angle irons 3. To collapse the structure the seat is pivoted forwardly to rest on stops 21 and the back rest is then pivoted forwardly'into the pan. Pivoted at 16 is a panel 15 which when the structure is collapsed is swung over to cover the seat. The structure may be secured to a vehicle floor by means of tongues 17 engaging brackets 19 on the vehicle floor and by means of sliding bolts 18 engageable with thimbles 19a carried by the vehicle.
