Abstract

958,590. Seats. G. M. FISHER. Jan. 8, 1962 [Jan. 5, 1961], No. 470/61. Heading A4J. [Also in Division B7] Relates to optional seats in a motor vehicle (see Division B7). As shown in Fig. 1, optional seats 16 are mounted on collapsible supporting frames 15, Fig. 3, pivoted to the ends of bars 19 on the vehicle main floor 11, at the rear of the front seats 12 and on each side of the propeller shaft 14, and are also provided with a hinged section 17 which when raised forms the backs of the seats 16 and which, when the frames 15 are collapsed in the transverse direction of the vehicle as shown in Fig. 5, can be lowered to form a continuation of the loadcarrying floor 10. The floor 10 has side extensions providing a well 13 between the floors 10, 11, and when the frames 15 are collapsed in the well 13 they extend in part under the side extensions. The seat back is supported in erected position by struts 18 and the frames are then locked, upright, by a hook 22. The seat back 17 is pivoted in brackets 27 on the floor 10. According to the Provisional Specification each seat 16 may have its own hinged seat back and the backs when lowered form part of the load-carrying floor.
