Abstract

293,620. Renault, L. July 9, 1927, [Convention date]. Seats and seat-backs, arrangement of.-In order to obtain freer access to the rear seat of a motor or like vehicle, the act of folding down the back 7 of the front seat 2 is arranged to cause the front seat to move forwardly by pivoting about a fixed vertical axis. In the construction shown, the seat 2 is mounted on four feet, of which the inner front foot 1 is fixed to the floor and constitutes the pivot, while the other feet 3, 4, and 5 are fitted with castors moving in guides or on tracks on the floor. The seat back 7 is hinged about a horizontal shalt 6 and carries with it a lever-arm 8, the 'free end of which is hinged to a rod 9 connected to a fixed point 10 on the floor so that, when the seat-back is being folded down, the tendency of the arm 8 to move backwards exerts a forward pull on the seat.
