In a folding occasional seat for a motor seat of the kind which is normally housed in a folded condition in a recess in a partition or behind the front seat and can be erected upon turning down on the floor 14 a hinged panel which is provided with a hinged board which when the seat is in housed position comprises a shelf and conceals the seat the hinged board 9 is connected to the seat in a manner such that when the seat is erected it automatically takes up an out-ofthe-way position below the rear part of the seat. As shown, the seat comprises a back frame 6, seat frame side members 2, erecting links 8 and legs 4 hinged to the hinged panel 3 adapted to be swung up, when the seat is folded, to close the recess 12. The hinged board 9 is carried by brackets 11 pivoted for limited rotary movement at 10 to the back frames the board being swung at right angles to the hinged panel 3 in closed position but positioned as shown when the seat is erected. The brackets 11 are allowed limited movement by means of pins and slots 15 whereby when the hinged board is latched by latches 16, 17 in shelf position, its rear end may be litted to disengage the latches and also act as a handle to pull the hinged panel downwardly.
