Abstract
682,758. Gyratory crushers. NORDBERG MANUFACTURING CO. July 31, 1951 [Aug. 17, 1950; Aug. 17, 1950], No. 18148/51. Class 59 In a gyratory crusher, the upper crushing member 9 is provided with a flange 9b which is removably secured to a flange 11 of a hollow member 13, vertically adjustable on the crusher frame 8, so that the member 9 can be detached and upwardly removed without removal of the member 13. In the form shown, the flange 9b is. secured to the flange 11 by means of nuts 21a and U-bolts 21. Hooks 25 facilitate removal of the member 9. The lower crushing member 16 is removably secured on a gyratory head 2 provided with a mantle 4 which is held fast by a nut 5 provided with a platform 6 for a feed plate 7, the external diameter of which is less than the internal diameter of the crushing member 9. The crushing member 16 is shaped to form an annular trough 18, the outer wall 19 of which constitutes a weir leading to the crushing zone 20 so as to facilitate the handling of material in a wet and fluent state. The length of the crushing zone is preferably from 2 to 4 inches. In a modification, Figs. 3 and 4 (not shown), the flanges 9b and 11 are secured together by means of a bayonet catch. In a further modification, Fig. 5 (not shown), the crushing members are shaped to provide two crushing zones separated by an annular trough.
