Abstract
682,712. Turret lathes. ETABLISSEMENTS A. CAZENEUVE, and BRUET, H. R. May 19, 1950 [May 20, 1949], No. 12549/50. Class 83 (iii). A turret lathe has the turret laterally offset with respect to the centre line of the lathe, that portion of the base on which the turret slide moves also being laterally offset with respect to the centre line, and having its upper face sloping inwardly and longitudinally towards the headstock. A carriage 12 movable along the lathe bed 13 carries a guideway 15, Fig. 3, which is parallel to but offset from the centre line of the lathe away from the operating side. The top face of this guideway slopes inwardly and the guideway carries a turret slide 11. The turret proper 1 is supported on an inclined face at the forward end of the slide 11 and may be adjusted within limits to centralize the tools or the centre carried by the turret, both rotatively and laterally, by means of set screws 20, Fig. 4, which engage pins 21 contacting a boss 19 on the lower part of the turret stem. A centre 2 may be used in the turret so that the latter takes the place of the usual tailstock.
