682,120. Gas collecting mains. SIMON-CARVES, Ltd. (OTTO & CO., GES., DR. C.). Aug. 16, 1951 [Sept. 20, 1950], No. 23045/50. Class 55 (ii). A partly cylindrical gas collecting main a has two flat portions which lie in planes tangential to the cylindrical portion and which meet at an angle of about 90 degrees, each portion being welded to an angle iron b. Openings o are provided at intervals in the upper flat portion, the flanges d of the gas shut-off valve casing e being secured to flanges c which are provided about each opening. The bend n connecting the ascension pipe h to the main a is secured to the other side of the valve casing e. The invention obviates the necessity of providing the special castings which are necessary when wholly cylindrical mains are used.
