[Also in Group XXV] Dishwashing apparatus comprises a structure having a doorway terminating in a substantially vertical front opening having opposed side flanges and a bottom flange 19 provided with an upwardly directed ledge 27 extending between the side flanges and terminating adjacent the front opening and hinge mechanism having an element secured to the bottom flange 19 and another to the lower part of a door 33 for moving the door between a substantially vertical closed position and a substantially horizontal open position and a first bumper member 79 secured to the bottom flange 19 and a second bumper member 82 carried by the lower part of the door, the bumpers being arranged to engage to support the door in an open position. The apparatus is constructed as described in Specification 681,911 except as regards the hinge mechanism for the door 33. Each hinge comprises a pintle 68 supported on a U-shaped bracket a on the bottom flange 19 of the vat of the machine and a saddle 69 which engages the pintle and is carried by a second U-shaped bracket b attached to the inner panel of door 33 and concealed by the outer panel of the door. The bracket b has a pair of aligned slots 80, 81 to clear the ledge 27 and carries the abutment 82. The abutment 79 is carried by a U-shaped bracket c which is secured to the underside of flange 19 by the rivets which hold the bracket a in place. Rubber gaskets 65, 66 between the flange 19 and the brackets a, c make the vat water-tight. The bracket a has a pair of aligned slots 77 which are engaged by a pin 76 carried by the bracket b when the door is in its open position to keep the saddle 69 in contact with the pintle 68. In an intermediate position of the door 33 the saddle 69 may be disengaged from the pintle so that the door may be removed.
