Abstract
681,237. Mechanical wheeled toys. MANGOLD, H. Dec. 5, 1950. [Jan. 30, 1950] No. 29715/50. Class 132 (iii). A travelling toy with a figure has a clockwork mechanism which propels the toy and also actuates the figure. A rider figure on a motor cycle is in a normal "seated" position and on the toy being started, a tappet and cam disc 5 revolves, an actuating arm 16 being moved upwards by a rocking member 10, the rider 20 on a supporting rod 19 pivoted to the actuating arm 16 assuming the position shown in full lines in Fig. 2. As the disc 5 continues to revolve, a tappet 7 causes the rocking member 10 and arm 16 to remain in the upper position and simultaneously a cam portion 8 of disc 5 engaging a stop 27 causes bell crank lever 25, control lever 23, and supporting rod 19 to move such that the rider 20 assumes an upright position (dotted outline, Fig. 2). Completion of the turning movement of the disc 5 causes the rider to incline and finally to return to its normal "seated" position after which the sequence recommences. The toy may be in the form, e.g. of an animal with a rider, or of a vehicle other than a motor cycle.
