Abstract
513,380. Toys. BROWN, R. M. June 24, 1938, No. 18754. [Class 132 (iii)] A doll 1 secured to a platform. has a pivoted arm 2 the hand 5 of which is held in free contact with a balloon or ball 4, means being provided for reciprocating the arm in a vertical plane against the ball to propel it downward, and for returning the ball to follow the upward movement of the hand. The arm 2 is reciprocated by a link 16 and rod 10 loaded by a spring 12 and carrying a roller 15 engaging with a cam 17 which is rotated by a crank 20 or by clockwork consisting of two ratchets 21, 25 connected by a spring 22 and being connected respectively to a crank and to the cam 17, a trip dog 27 holding ratchet 25 and a spring 24 the ratchet 21. The ball 4 is attached by a rod 9 to a float 7 held in vertical guides 8 in a chamber partly filled with water. Depression of the arm 2 depresses the ball 4, while the raising of the arm 2 by the spring 12 allows the ball to rise under the action of the float 7. In another embodiment as shown in Fig. 6, the arm 29 is operated by a link 34 to a cam 33 which raises and lowers the ball 30 through the weighted head 32, In the further modification shown in Fig. 7, the arm is operated by a spring pressed treadle 43, the ball being connected to a float 42 the platform on which the doll stands being stood in a bowl of water.
