1278131 Dolls MATTEL Inc 17 July 1970 [12 Feb 1970] 34718/70 Heading A6S A doll comprises a body, a pair of legs mounted on the body and leg control means coupled to the legs and mounted on the body for movement in a first manner to simultaneously pivot both legs in the same direction and in a second manner to simultaneously pivot the legs in opposite direction. The leg control means 26 includes an activating member 80 having a slot 82, a right end 86, coupled to the right leg 20 and a left end 32 coupled to the left leg 22. Each side of leg control means 26 includes a rack 90 and 92, the upper ends of which are pivotally engaged with the activating member while the lower ends are engaged by ends 94 and 96 of spring 98 which is disposed about post 100. Each leg is fixed to a shaft 102, 104 each of which carries a pinion 106 and 108 which engage racks 90 and 92. A push button 34 for depressing member 80 is provided in the doll's side. The pushbutton is attached to a lever 110 pivotally mounted at 112. The lever has an end 116 which bears against an upper end of the centre portion of member 80. If the slot 82 of the actuator member 80 is kept at a constant position along the shaft 84, then forward pivoting of one leg causes backward pivoting of the other leg. However, movement of the actuator member 80 along its slot 82 without pivoting, causes both legs to move backward or forward together. The doll may also be provided with a head spotting mechanism 24 which allows the head 14 to remain forward for the first 90‹ of any 360‹ turn of the body.
