679,929. Hose adaptors. HUGHES, H. S. Oct. 26, 1950 [Nov. 16, 1949], No. 29290/49. Class 99 (i) A body 1 is provided with a male thread 4 for the attachment of a fire-hose, a joint face 7 for engagement with a fire hydrant 3 to limit the compression of a resilient jointing ring 8, and a male thread 9 on which is engaged means, e.g. a member 10 having bayonet lugs 11, for fixing the body to the hydrant. There may be a locknut 12 to prevent relative rotation between the body and member, and recesses 15 to which a key for turning the body is applied. In a modification, the body carries a union nut having two female threads of different pitch, one of which engages the thread 9 to draw the joint face up to the hydrant.
