Abstract

679,201. Cathode-ray tubes. ELECTRIC & MUSICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. Sept. 26, 1950 [Oct. 13, 1949]. Class 39 (i). A cathode-ray tube for a Schmidt television projection system has an electrical conductor 5 connected to the final anode passing between the envelope 1 and a separate end wall 2, and the envelope is extended to form an annular shield 3 of insulating material shielding scanning coils 6 near the end wall 2 from the said conductor. The shield may be an integral or separately sealed extension of the conical part of the envelope, of the same angle or flared with respect to it, or may extend rearwardly of the end wall 2 (Fig. 4). The conductor 5 may be an annular coating of Liquid Bright Platinum paint extending outwardly from a graphite final anode 4, or curving round the rearwardly extending shield (Fig. 4) so that a metal band or spring clips may engage it, the paint being burned in before or during the sealing on of the end wall 2. The anode 4 may be an extension of an aluminium reflecting backing of the fluorescent screen, and formed at the same time as the backing by the evaporation of aluminium within the envelope.
