Abstract
678,147. Forced draught apparatus. BUISKOOL, E. J., and JONG, A. DE. Jan. 30, 1947 [April 17, 1942], No. 2960/47. Class 51 (i). A motorized fan unit for supplying forced draught to boiler and other furnaces comprises a fan casing 6 provided with a gauge covered inlet 8, a motor 2 enclosed by a ring 3 secured to the casing by ribs 5, a screw fan 1 the blades of which are constructed according to the circulation principle of the aerofoil theory and which have a width decreasing towards ,their free ends, and a connecting duct 10 secured to the wall 9 of the boiler and provided with adjustable guide blades 12. A valve 13 controlling the outlet of the fan unit is actuated by a handle 26 through a crank arm 14 and linkage 16, and ash gutters or shoots are provided above each unit as fixed in front of the ash boxes of a Lancashire boiler, Fig. 1 (not shown). Other modifications show the application of the invention to an oil fired Scotch boiler with the Howden draught system and a single unit applied to a double-flued boiler Figs. 3 and 7 (not shown). The Specification as open to inspection under Sect 91, comprises the incorporation with the fan of a number of short-circuiting conduits, each provided with a controlling valve dividing the air supplied by the fan 'into adjustable ratios, and also a further modification in which the controlling valve is combined with mechanism cutting off the air supply when opening the boiler fire door. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91, comprises also the subject-matter of Specification 678,176, [Group XI]. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
