A frequency responsive relay has two windings i, j acting in opposition and respectively connected through rectifiers e, g to two differently tuned circuits a, band b<SP>1</SP>, a<SP>1</SP> arranged in series between A.C. supply terminals c. The core k of the relay is polarized, and when the frequency of the supply reaches a predetermined amount the predominance of the current in one winding i causes the switch h to be closed and at another frequency the predominance of the current in the other winding causes the switch to be re-opened under the action of a spring.
