Class 126 [Also in Group X] A balanced flue for gas-fired appliances is constructed so that the inlet end of the air intake duct which surrounds the flue-duct can be made flush with the outer surface of the wall through which it extends while the exit end of the flue duct lies beyond the surface of the wall and is provided with a flared mouth. The inner ends of the duct 3, 5 are provided with grooved flanges 8, 6 to enable a gas tight joint to be made between the flue and a gas fired appliance. The intake duct 5 ends flush with the outer suface of the wall, the flue duct 3 projecting beyond it and carrying a cowl 11 with a flared bell-mouth 12. A part-spherical cap 13, concave inwardly, faces and is spaced from the bell mouth 12. The circumferential area of the gap between the cap and the cowl is at least equal to the cross-sectional area of the flue duct. A ring 15 and bars 10 are provided in the gap and in the intake duct respectively to prevent entry of birds.
