[Also in Group V] A composition comprising wood splinters and thermosetting resin is compressed in successive small layers to form a sheet &c., the splinters becoming predominantly disposed with their longer dimensions in a plane transverse to the direction in which the pressure is applied. A sheet thus formed may be solid, or may have channels 11 running through it, or may be grooved along one surface so that when two sheets are placed face to face the grooves register to form passages in a compound sheet. The sheet shown is faced with veneer 5, 6.
