Abstract
677,266. Heat treatment furnaces. STORDY ENGINEERING, Ltd., and STORDY, J. J. Nov. 13, 1950 (Nov. 4, 1949], No. 28241/49. Class 51 (ii). In a forced convection furnace for the lowtemperature heat treatment of aluminium and other metal articles, a heat insulated chamber 1 containing removable electrical elements 2 is centrally disposed behind the rear wall 3 of the work chamber 4 and is flanked by and connected to two centrifugal fans 5 having their pressure outlets 8 connected to longitudinallydisposed supply ducts 9 extending along the lower side walls of the work chamber. The supply ducts 9 are formed along their inner walls with damper-controlled outlet openings 10 and are interconnected by transverse ducts 12 controlled by dampers 13, said ducts extending through longitudinal parallel walls 14 and opening into the work chamber 4 in the spaces between said walls 14. A return duct 17 provided with damper-controlled exhaust openings 18 in its underside and vertical side walls is suspended from the chamber roof and connected at its rear end to the heater chamber 1. The walls 14 are capped by metal bearer plates 15 on which work is deposited from verticallyadjustable work-supporting members on a carriage running on rails 16 disposed between the walls.
