The guard a covering the nip rollers of a textile milling and / or scouring or like machine is interconnected with the clutch lever h of the machine by means of a flexible cable f, connected between the lever h and a lever e on the pivot rod b of the guard, and passing through a guide g. The length of the cable f is such that in the clutch engaged position of lever h to the right the guard a must be closed whilst to open the guard the lever h must be moved to the left to a clutch disengaged position.
