675,842. Refrigerating. WESTINGHOUSE ELECTRIC INTERNATIONAL CO. Jan. 11, 1951 [Feb. 3, 1950], No. 823/51. Class 29 A refrigerant-lubricant mixture, for a compression system, of a halogenated aliphatic compound such as a chlorofluoromethane and a petroleum lubricant such as paraffin base or naphthene base oils is stabilized by the addition of at least 0.01 per cent of boric anhydride or orthoboric acid. The stabilizer may be in pellet form in a porous cartridge and may be placed in low or high pressure gas lines or in the liquid refrigerant line. It is stated that the stabilizer reduces the " copper-plating " of steel parts of the system and charring of the refrigerant mixture.
