[Class 29] A working fluid for refrigerating systems comprises as a major constituent a halogenated aliphatic hydrocarbon and a lubricant, and as a minor constituent an organic oxide in which an oxygen atom is linked to two adjacent carbon atoms acting as a corrosion inhibitor. A preferred refrigerant is difluorodichloromethane and a preferred oxide propylene oxide 1.2 in an amount ranging from ¢ per cent to 5 per cent of the refrigerant. Other oxides suitable which may include phenyl groups are mentioned. An alcohol may be added as an antifreeze agent.
