Class 87 (ii) A mould for pipes or like tubular articles comprises two halves which together form a tubular mould separable in a longitudinal plane, the halves being held together by connecting means disengageable by axial movement of one-half relative to another. As shown, one semi-cylindrical mould half 1 has laterally-extending pins 1b with which co-operate hooks 2a on the other similar half 2. When the half 2 is dropped into position, inclined surfaces 2c on the hooks draw the halves tightly together. Instead of or in addition to the hooks and pins, quick-acting lever clamps may be used. To the mould half 1 is secured a flange 1a, by which this half may be mounted in a vertical position on a table or platform associated with a machine embodying a rotary packer head which is drawn upwardly through the mould for packing concrete within the mould. An annulus 1c is welded to the underside of the flange 1a. The other mould half 2 rests on the annulus 1c and has a horseshoeshaped ledge 2d on which rests a removable ring 4. The moulded pipe rests on this ring 4, and after moulding, the half 2 is lifted with the ring and moulded pipe and taken away to a setting place where the part 2, 2d is disengaged and the pipe is left standing on the ring. Holes 1e, 1d are provided in the annulus 1c, to allow waste material to fall therethrough. The half 2 has a handle or handles 2b. Drain pipes having two or more parallel bores may thus be made. The mould may be incorporated in vibration or vertical spinning machines. Specification 675,288 is referred to.
